Let’s celebrate the “Sweetheart of Ohio” during Hearts Afire Weekend (February 10-12, 2023) in LOVEland! The weekend will feature elements of fire and ice with live entertainment, outdoor decorations, and photo opportunities. Local businesses participate with valentine specials and love-inspired activities.
Most activities are free. Some activities require pre-registration due to space capacity.

Hearts Afire Weekend is Cappy’s premier fundraising event of the year! Cappy’s 2023 charity partner is the Women’s Health Initiatives Foundation. Men and women will be auctioned off to be part of a group date on Saturday, Feb. 11. Women will be auctioned off 6-8 p.m. and men auctioned off 9-11 p.m. The highest bids will participate in the group date, which includes three drinks per person, $25 gift card to Lemons and Limes Boutique, pizza, chocolate-covered strawberries, champagne, and live music by Rooster Ridge. All net proceeds go to charity; in 2022, Cappy’s raised more than $6,000!

Your local community theater presents Crushin It, a valentine-themed variety show. Tickets may be purchased online in advance or at the door.

Saturday, Feb. 11
Saturday is the main day of Hearts Afire Weekend. Feel the love as you stroll through the city!

Zoo Crew will be on the patio of Hometown Cafe. Create a cuddly creature for yourself or your sweetheart by selecting an animal, filling with stuffing, and choosing an outfit.

12 – 5 PM – Artists’ Love Stories: The Power of Creative Partnerships – Loveland Art Studios on Main
Take part in a community painting activity, as you create large-scale pieces in artists’ styles. For example, Jackson Pollock and Lee Kranz — an iconic couple during the abstract expressionism movement — brought drip-painting into the forefront. Now is your chance to explore this action-painting technique! The studio will spread a large canvas across the floor and use sticks, sponges, dried paint brushes and squirt guns to recreate abstract works. All are invited to join in the fun! The studio will offer large trash bags to protect clothing and disposable gloves.
12 – 8 PM – Ice Sculpture Walking Tour – Downtown
Enjoy a self-guided walking tour discovering unique ice sculptures! More than 20 sculptures will be displayed throughout the downtown area. Take a selfie to share on social media using the official event hashtag #LovelandHeartsAfire. View sculpture map.
12 – 8 PM – Live Ice Carving – City Hall Lawn
Watch professional sculptors carve ice to life!
12 – 8 PM – Eskimo Kisses Village – Fountain Greene (In front of Fleet Feet)
Play your favorite yard game made of ice! This area will feature mini golf, cornhole and other fun games. Don’t miss the photo ops! Music by The ShamRocker.
12 – 8 PM – Tunnel of Love – Jackson Street Market (Just off the Bike Trail in center of downtown)
The Shops of Brown’s Crossing will set up a themed valentine funland complete with decorations, photo ops, and food trucks. Food trucks will be there from 12-6 p.m. including The Cheesecakery, The Crafted Cup, City Belle Fried Pies and Street Kitchen.

1 – 3 PM – Valentine Pageant – Loveland Stage Company
Don’t miss the first Hearts Afire Valentine Pageant! Children ages 1-4 will compete to be crowned Ms. Valentine or Mr. Cupid. The contest will be judged by the Loveland Valentine Ladies, and there is also a “Fan Favorite” category where the audience can vote. It’s all part of the fun of Hearts Afire Weekend!

1 or 4:30 PM – Love & Attraction Spell Workshops – Loveland Station Apartments’ Community Room
Everyone is worthy and deserving of love. The key is to attract the type of person you want who loves you and is deserving of your love. Spell work just adds that “magickal” extra assistance to help manifest love. In this 45-minute workshop, will learn the do’s and don’ts of spell work to make your own magickal essential oil for LOVE to take home. Two workshops will be offered: 1 p.m. and 4:30 p.m. The workshop is $20/person.

2 – 4 PM – Tarot Card Readings – Loveland Station Apartments’ Community Room
Is love in your future? What do the cards say? Sit down with professional tarot and palm reader Francine Haydon for a 10-minute mini “Love and Life” intuitive card reading. Francine is a professional tarot and palm reader; energy worker; Free Soul counselor and instructor; and ordained minister who has been practicing and teaching metaphysical and spiritual subjects for more than 20 years. She works out of her home in Union Township and Forest & Bloom Healing Studio in Madeira. Walk-in — first come, first served. Cost is $20/person, payable at the door by cash, credit, or Venmo. Readings will be held in the Community Room of Loveland Station Apartments (110 S. Second St., Suite A).
2 – 6 PM – Blind Date with a Book – Hometown Cafe
The Loveland Branch Library aims to pair a reader with their perfect book. Read through a selection of profiles and make your pick – all without even knowing your fated book’s name! There will be books for children and adults. Participants will be able to take their book home to keep.

2 – 8 PM – Heat Up the Street Performers – Clocktower in center of downtown
There will be a bustle of activity warming up the streets! New performer at the top of each hour.
2-3 p.m. – Princesses
3-4 p.m. – Kiss the Frog Prince
4-8 p.m. – Acts featuring mimes, hula hoopers, mirror dancers & fire twirlers
2 – 8 PM – Pottery Painting – Whistle Stop Clay Works
Paint a heart box or Yoda ornament. Ages 3 and up. All supplies provided. Cost is $6. Projects will be ready for pick up in 10 days.

Want to learn how to do the waltz, swing, foxtrot or salsa? Sign up for an Arthur Murray dance lesson. A 45-minute lesson will begin at the top of the hour. $10/person. Pre-registration encouraged to save your spot!

4 – 8 PM – Warm Up Your Heart Chocolate Bar – Hometown Cafe
Stop by the patio for a sweet treat and a warm bite! Hometown is serving up a hot chocolate bar and loaded sweet potato chips.
5 – 10 PM – Psychics – Lemons and Limes Boutique
See what’s in the stars for your love and destiny! Psychics from The Oracle Metaphysical Services in Maineville, Ohio, will be available for readings. Walk-in appointments. There will be a fee for this activity.

6 – 8 PM – Ghost Photo Op – Whistle Stop Clay Works
Bring your sweetheart and recreate the iconic scene at the potters wheel from the movie Ghost starring Demi Moore and Patrick Swayze. The song “Unchained Melody” will be playing as will the unforgettable movie scene. Staff will capture the moment for you with your camera. Free!

7 – 9 PM – “Single in the City” Speed Dating – The Works Brick Oven Restaurant
All aboard for love! Try speed dating in The Works’ train car. You’ll meet up to a dozen other singles face-to-face through a series of six minute “Pre-Dates.” A professional planner facilitates the whole event so there’s no awkwardness, no pressure, no embarrassment and no games… just great fun! After the event, the planner will email each guest a list of participants who would like to hear from them again! Odds are you’ll have one or more matches (more than two-thirds of Pre-Daters match with at least one person). There is a participation fee.

Gather for a group vow renewal ceremony performed by Elvis, AKA Mayor Kathy Bailey.
Vow renewal ceremonies are not intended to be second weddings. No fee. No need to pre-register. Couples will not receive any certificate and/or “proof” of renewal.
Hearts Afire Weekend Ice Sculpture Tour
A hot element of Hearts Afire is the ice sculpture walking tour. This is one of the only ice sculpture events happening in Greater Cincinnati this winter!
Enjoy a self-guided walking tour through Historic Downtown Loveland, discovering more than 35 unique ice designs, including characters like Yoda. Take “sculpture selfies” as you explore, and share your photos on social media using #LovelandHeartsAfire.

Sunday, Feb. 12
9 AM – Chasing Cupid 5K – Fleet Feet
Fleet Feet will host a fun run/walk for all ages taking place along the Little Miami Bike Trail. There will be a raffle to benefit the American Heart Association, and the association’s mascot will be there to promote the Heart Mini Marathon & Walk. Plus, Saucony will be on site with demo shoes.
10 AM – 2 PM – Sunday Brunch with Live Music – Tano Bistro
Enjoy a delicious brunch, featuring live jazz music. Reservations encouraged.
1 PM – Valentine Lady Visit – Hometown Cafe
Meet Loveland’s 2023 Valentine Lady! Donna Barnes will discuss pollinator gardens and the importance of planting native plants.
