Lunch & Learn: The Experience of a WWII Nurse Anesthetist
Visit the Museum Center for a lunch and learn event.
Until recently, very little information was published about the vital contributions of nurse anesthetists who served during World War II. Neither the Veteran’s Administration nor historical societies kept any records.
Carolyn Nicholson, CRNA, BSEd, researched the story of one nurse anesthetist, 1st Lt. Adeline H. Simonson, and will discuss the impact the nurses made. She will share the experiences and dangers Simonson experienced while serving with a 400-bed med evac hospital in the European Theater during WWII.
Carolyn graduated from the Cincinnati General Hospital School of Nurse Anesthesia in 1972. She remained an instructor for 42 years, receiving her BSED in 1986. Throughout her career, she spoke at many local, state, national, and international nurse anesthesia professional meetings. She retired in 2014.
Reservations are required by Nov. 6 – $10 for members, $15 for non-members. Learn more in this program hosted by the Loveland Museum Center.
