Feb. 11, 12 & 13 in Loveland, Ohio

Let’s celebrate the “Sweetheart of Ohio” with a weekend of fun in LOVEland! Hearts Afire will feature elements of fire and ice with live entertainment, outdoor decorations, and more. Businesses throughout the city will participate with valentine specials and love-inspired activities. Sparks will fly!

Most activities are free to the public. Some activities require tickets and/or pre-registration due to space capacity. Please read the full event descriptions.

All Weekend

Beginning Friday, February 11, these local businesses will participate in Hearts Afire fun all weekend!

  • Busy Bee Boutique: Heartstrings Game – Customers will pull a heartstring to reveal great discounts & prizes!

  • Brown’s Crossing: Diaper Drop – Collecting diapers for charity. Any size, any brand.

  • Brittney Frietch RE/MAX Preferred Group: What do you love about Loveland? Visit an interactive outdoor display, where you can leave your message.

  • Haven Grey: Giveaway with purchase.

  • Hometown Café: Selling cookie decorating kits by Lovebug Cookies. Customers may pre-order kits in advance.

  • Loveland Station Apartments: Check out residents’ sweet balcony decorations!

  • Loveland Sweet Shoppe: Stop by and enter the raffle for your chance to win romantic prizes including a wine & chocolate tasting, dinner for two at Tano Bistro, and private dance lessons!

  • Mile 42 Coffee: Valentine drinks all weekend!

Friday, Feb. 11

Love is in the air! Events kick off Friday morning.

  • Valentine Photo Contest: 8 a.m.-5 p.m., Loveland General Store & Eads Fence
    Come visit the Eads Fence Showroom, and take your most creative valentine photo. Check in on Facebook with your photo. The most liked photo will win a 1-night stay at Loveland Farm Airbnb & Event Venue!
  • Annual Valentine Breakfast: 8:30-10:30 a.m., Oasis Golf & Conference Center
    The Little Miami River Chamber Alliance will honor the 2022 Valentine Lady and announce winners of the annual poetry and art contests.

  • Kids Valentine Craft Party:
    5-7 p.m., Hometown Café
    Create and celebrate Valentine’s Day with a cute craft. This is perfect for kids ages 6-12, and siblings are $5 off. The ticket includes all your supplies, step-by-step instruction, and a snack from Hometown Café.

  • Galentine Night: 5-8 p.m., Downtown Loveland
    Participating shops include Alley Boutique, Blume, Busy Bee Boutique, Haven Grey, Lemons & Limes, Loveland Sweet Shoppe, Trailside Provisions, and Welling & Co. Jewelers.
    Visit for chocolate treats, a gift basket giveaway, and shopping specials. Wear your favorite red, gather your gal pals, and take some selfies! Old School Pix‘s vintage truck will be parked outside Trailside Provisions and decorated for Valentine’s Day pictures!
  • Art Open House Sale + Raffle: 5-9 p.m., Art House II
    Art House II is hosting an Open House through the weekend, featuring a sale and raffle. Galleries of original Loveland art will be 15% off. Every visitor will be entered in a raffle to run a Giclee Print on stretched canvas depicting the Tano block on W. Loveland Ave. before the fire. The drawing will be Sunday at 4 p.m. (do not need to be present to win).
  • Cappy’s Charity Date Auction: 6-10 p.m., Cappy’s Wine and Spirits
    Cappy’s will kick off the night with live music on the patio. Then the eligible dates (store employees, beer/wine reps, and some familiar faces) will walk the red carpet, and you can place your highest bid for a night on the town (Loveland, that is)! All money raised is for charity. Bid for a date on Sat., Feb. 12 or Sun., Feb. 13, featuring a champagne toast at Cappy’s, chocolate-covered strawberries from Cocoa Bites, a mini-shopping spree at Lemons & Limes, and a small plate from Rodi. You won’t want to miss all the fun!
  • Couples Painting Class:
    6:30-8:30 p.m., The Building
    Bring your sweetheart to create a lasting memory together! No prior art experience necessary! Two canvases match together to form one cute picture together.

  • Pick Your Project/DIY Craft Night:

    Grab your friends or better half for a craft night! Pick from several different sign-making options, or learn how to etch your own set of glasses. This class is perfect for couples (one makes the sign and the other makes the glasses) and a great way to celebrate the Hearts Afire Weekend.

Saturday, Feb. 12

Saturday will be the main day for Hearts Afire. Feel the love as you stroll through the city. Businesses in Historic Downtown Loveland and the Loveland-Madeira Corridor will participate in the festivities.

  • Valentine Photo Contest: 8 a.m.-5 p.m., Loveland General Store & Eads Fence

  • Artists’ Love Stories: The Power of Creative Partnerships: 11 a.m.-5 p.m., Loveland Art Studios on Main
    Select studio residents will hold an Open House to celebrate “Artists’ Love Stories: The Power of Creative Partnerships” and offer community painting participation. Guests can help create large-scale pieces in artists’ styles, such as the iconic couple Jackson Pollock and Lee Kranz. For example, exploring Pollock’s drip-painting technique, we’ll spread a large canvas across the floor and use sticks, sponges, dried paint brushes — even squirt guns! — to recreate the action gestures of Jackson’s abstract works. ALL are invited to join in the fun! We’ll have large trash bags to protect your clothing and disposable gloves available for free! We’ll also offer canvases and supplies for creating individual masterpieces for a fee as long as long as supplies last. 
  • Puppy LovePet Adoptions: 12-5 p.m., Eads’ Outdoor Area
    Meet a new furry friend from Furgotten Dog Rescue. These pups will bask in your attention and head-pats! Furgotten Dog Rescue’s mission is to rescue, educate, and advocate for the “unlovable” shelter dogs that are left behind because of their breed, age, appearance, and special needs.

    1-3 p.m., The Building
    Paint a sweet llama portrait together with a parent! Perfect for kids ages 6-10. Class taught by Elizabeth Mason of Painting with the Psalms. Two llama designs to choose from.

    We can’t forget about our furry valentines… Spend some quality time with a cute kitty from Myles Ahead Animal Sanctuary and Rescue.

  • Ghost Photo Op: 5-8 p.m., Whistle Stop Clay Works
    Reenact the iconic scene from the movie Ghost with Patrick Swayze and Demi Moore.
  • Cupid’s Couple Challenge: 5:30 p.m., Mile 42 Coffee
    How well do you know your significant other? In Loveland’s spin on The Newlywed Game, couples will answer questions to reveal how well they know each other. You won’t want to miss the fun!
  • Ice Sculpture Walking Tour: 6 p.m., Downtown
    Enjoy a self-guided walking tour exploring unique ice sculptures! There will be more than 20 sculptures on display throughout the downtown area. Take a selfie and share on social media using the official event hashtag #LovelandHeartsAfire. Stay tuned – a full listing and map will be provided!
  • Ice Carving Demonstration: 6-9 p.m., City Hall Lawn & Fire Station 63
    See professional ice sculptors carve art right before your eyes! The night will feature two demonstrations. The first will consist of four blocks of ice, stacked to make one large sculpture standing approximately 6 ft. tall. The second demonstration ­— a fire and ice tower — will bring the heat! Watch in amazement as clear walls of ice house growing flames.
  • Eskimo Village: 6 p.m., Fountain Area (In front of Fleet Feet/JackRabbit)
    Show off your game skills! Play a round of cornhole or skeeball on — yep, you guessed it — ice! And don’t miss the photo ops in this area, too.
  • Fire Performers: 6-9 p.m., City Hall Lawn/Downtown
    These fire twirlers will warm up the night. You won’t want to miss their tricks!
  • Couples Painting Class: 6-8 p.m., The Building

    Dinner, open bar, valet parking, live music by the Nasty Nati Brass Band! This event benefits the Candice M. Cook Scholarship Foundation for Excellence in Paramedic & Firefighter Education. The band will lead the 2nd Line Parade to Bishop’s Quarter – a la a New Orleans-style street party!

    Enjoy a fireworks display across the Loveland skies!

Ice Sculpture Tour: Saturday

A key element of Hearts Afire is an ice sculpture tour on Saturday. This is one of the only ice sculpture events happening in Greater Cincinnati this winter! Enjoy a self-guided walking tour through Historic Downtown Loveland, exploring approximately 20 unique ice designs.

Don’t forget to take “sculpture selfies” as you explore. Share your photos on social media using the official event hashtag #LovelandHeartsAfire.

Sunday, Feb. 13

Is your heart racing yet?! The weekend winds down on Sunday.

  • Chasing Cupid 5K: 9 a.m., Little Miami Scenic Trail
    Fleet Feet (formerly JackRabbit) will host the first Chasing Cupid 5K! This will be a fun run/walk taking place along the trail. Meet at Fleet Feet; then the group will begin the course. There is no registration fee or advanced registration required.
  • Artists’ Love Stories The Power of Creative Partnerships: 11 a.m.-5 p.m., Loveland Art Studios on Main
    On Sunday, finished works will be exhibited and raffles will take place! Proceeds will support the new Art League of Loveland. Membership opportunities will be available.
  • Art Open House + Raffle: 12:30-5 p.m., Art House II
